Bob Upton is an oil painter who paints bring his easel outside and paints on location from life.

The practice called “plein air”, (meaning open air), involves completing his paintings typically in one session out of doors. Since the light changes quickly, the artist must work swiftly.

Bob has a love of realism, rooted in traditional oil painting. Formal academic training in drawing and painting, combined with the outdoor palette of the French Impressionists has been the foundation of his education.

Recently, outdoor landscape has consumed his painting. To "catch the day" in paint has been a goal.
